There is so much great content that gets passed around everyday that I learn from on a daily basis and today was no exception. I’m thinking of making this a weekly feature, let me know if I should!

1) The single most impressive element in New Belgium’s brand by Aaron Templer

If you know me, you know I love craft beer. New Belgium has found an interesting balance between making great beer, national distribution and financial success. As Aaron so eloquently points out, every employee is passionate about New Belgium beer, and every employee understands their role as a brand advocate.

What I learned: You brand is dependent on your employees belief in it.

2) Why People Forward Content, from the NYT

A lot of you may have read this already today, but it’s some more great insight into why people share. A concept that is central to effective social media marketing.

According to researchers who studied the most shared NYT content, awe was the emotion most correlated with sharing.

What I learned: Make sure your content inspires awe.

3) The Man Who Looked Into Facebook’s Soul, from Read Write Web

Facebook is opening up its data for academic purposes. This will give academics and marketers alike a lot of insight into what goes on in social networks beyond our personal and narrow view of the online landscape.

What I learned: For marketers to really succeed in the online space we need to have more of a big picture understanding, an understanding that can only come from data. This may be the first step.
